Description:
CH.29 / Renovation of an 80 m² 2 Bedroom Apartment in Montpellier
This project showcases the full renovation of an 80 m² apartment in the historic center of Montpellier, where technical performance and aesthetic refinement come together. The intervention begins with a complete thermal improvement of the dwelling: new insulation layers were added throughout the apartment, significantly enhancing comfort and energy efficiency.
The floor plan was entirely rethought. Formerly fragmented, the layout has been opened up to form a generous, fluid living area where the kitchen and the living room naturally merge. This new open space becomes the social core of the home, bright, functional, and designed for contemporary lifestyles.
A meticulous dialogue between colors and materials defines the project’s identity. Soft tones set the atmosphere: a gentle blue envelops the kitchen, while a muted green marks the entrance and corridor, creating a subtle visual continuity throughout the home. Accents of electric blue, reminiscent of Klein blue, punctuate the space with vibrant contrast and artistic tension.
Materiality plays a central role. The warmth of wood is intentionally contrasted with cooler, more mineral elements. In the kitchen, wooden surfaces stand next to integrated stainless steel within the partition, creating a refined play of opposites.
In the bathroom, polished microcement introduces a different texture, raw yet elegant, enhancing the overall harmony of tactile surfaces and finishes.
Through its interplay of colors, materials, and spatial openness, this renovation creates a home that is both contemporary and deeply atmospheric, balancing warmth, contrast, and visual rhythm.
